Botani - Active Olive Squalene!

Just last week, I took a week leave to a sunny beach resort in Malaysia and took the opportunity to test Botani Natural Organic Skincare from Australia while subjecting my skin to hot sun and simple skincare routine

Botani utilizes Active Olive Squalene, one of the main ingredients for good skin health. The products put to test are the Purifying Cleanser, Soothing Toning Mist, Olive Skin Serum and Rescue Eye Treatment. I will write about the products in order of my preferences (just like how I will eat the food I like first)

My favourite is the Olive Skin Serum (15 ml) which is just made of 3 ingredients: Olive Squalene, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Lecithin. SIMPLE indeed!. The highlight of this product is the texture, The oil feels satin, soft, ultra lightweight to the point that I feel like its almost like a silky gel. Its absorbs rapidly. Effect wise: It does what it claims, hydrate the skin. I woke up to skin that's calm and slightly sticky to touch on my cheeks (sticky may have a negative tone to it but balance skin with good hydration level is slightly sticky to touch). My forehead feels a little oily but there's not a issue in my opinion. I have woken up with greasier shine than this before. This product can be used daily and nightly as a moisturiser. I would recommend it for anyone including people with Eczema, Psoriasis & Rosacea.

My second vote goes to their Rescue Eye Treatment (25 ml). it is a luxurious, hydrating and anti-ageing eye gel, that is ideal for dark circles and puffiness. It is enriched with Acacia Senegal Gum that claims to instantly provides an immediate visible lifting and firming effect of the delicate eye area. Well, I am not sure about this as I didn't notice any visible difference. Having said that I would not discredit this product of this claim. No matter, which eye products I used I NEVER see any effects on my eyes. The lines may seem softer but my eyes still look the same. OK, folks, my take for eye products is to apply it diligently and you will see the effects after a decade or half a decade. Just apply it in good faith to ensure constant hydration for the thin delicate eyes areas.

This bottle won my 2nd vote because of its texture, like the Olive Skin Serum, is ultra satin texture and scent. Its a gel but the glide is thumbs up!  Since it glides on well, there is less tendency to pull the skin even if you are in a rush. The scent is soft and reminds me of honey. Glide it on daily with no fear of milia or pulling the skin around the eyes.

The 3rd place goes to the Purifying Facial Cleanser (50 ml), Purifying as its name indicate but this does not dry your skin. Its perfect for oily sensitive skin that cannot afford to have harsh super ultra clean cleanser (its our face, not plates) but requires the purifying benefits of a cleanser for oily skin. Scent is a winner, my perfectionist husband did not complain when he has to use it on our trip.

Unfortunately, the Soothing Facial Mist (50 ml) did not live up to my expectation on this trip. I feel like I can skip this toner entirely as it didn't seems to do anything at all. The scent is very mild maybe owing to its ultra gentle scent, I do not feel like I am applying anything at all. The ingredients are good with rose water, aloe vera and natural sugar beet as the first 3 ingredients. I would recommend this to those with very sensitive skin as this has no alcohol.

Enjoy your life and live to its fullest!
