Up Close with Suki Kramer, Founder of pure organic skin care suki pure.
1. What’s the most common misconception about organic skincare?
that pure + organic products cannot produce exceptional, visible, quick results. our products are in a category all their own - a true synergy of cutting edge science with pure, holistic organic to produce advanced formulas that really work without harming living things. and when we say that, we mean humans too.

2. If I have no real allergies to regular skincare, why should I switch to organic?
we see an epidemic of people in their late 30s to 50s coming to us with sudden breakouts of acne, rosacea, eczema, and other undiagnosable and untreatable skin ailments. This is from a lifetime of exposure to synthetics and toxins. many of our clients are frustrated with the lack of results they find from mainstream products, like i was. and like food allergies, allergies to topicals can spring up at any point in your life and you just won't know it. a much greater reason of course is for quality of health and well being.
studies come out every day that suddenly a cosmetic ingredient never tested before (thousands of cosmetic chemicals are always on the market that aren't tested, by the way) has recently been tested and it has been proven unsafe, taken off the market, or the regulation is such that suddenly manufacturers have to use it in far lower amounts. or studies come out that find the ingredient showing up in breast tumor tissue. why would anyone want to potentially risk their health to use a lotion? in the case of high performing products, i can see the allure perhaps, but certainly not in the case of skin care. did you know that nanochemicals go right into your bloodstream? and those ingredients are in many, many products.
it's also for a lot of people, like me, being disappointed with what has previously been available. i certainly was when i started this company. most of the "natural" products out there just didn't cut it. things are different now.
it's a quality issue all around. i think if people knew even a fraction of what i knew about what went into mainstream products, they wouldn't touch them.

3. For a first timer, what 5 rules-of-thumbs should I remember if I plan to switch to organic?
1. not all organics are created equal.every one is trying to cash in on the "trend" of green and organics now. it's up to you to demand the best for yourself and to be picky. remember, if it costs a couple bucks, comes in a huge container and says organic on it, someone is lying to you.
2. put assumptions aside. just because a company claims to be "organic" and "all natural" on their packaging does not necessarily mean that all of their ingredients are clean, sincethese claims are still unregulated. become a label reader instead.
3. learn the basics. our "ingredients to avoid" on www.sukipure.com outlines some basic ingredients that do not belong in personal care products—but which very often are. but there are many reference books, including cosmetics unmasked, a book by Dr. Stephen and Gina Antczak, that have good information about cosmetics ingredients. Suki has been hard pressed to find a better as well as accessible book or online resource on this topic. even this one has its shortcomings though, so take some things with a keen eye.
4.educate yourself. there are many sources out there that provide information about clean and not clean ingredients in cosmetics and skin care. when doing your research, it is important to be aware of who created the website or crafted the study, and to be sure that the source you are looking at is not affiliated with a third party organization that might want to give biased information. it's also important to read information from many sources, and to think critically before you accept a statement as fact. many organizations need to be fully checked out and always looked at with, as we always say, critical thinking skills in mind.
5. do not compromise. while moving to an organic regimen does require some adjustments, advances in science and consumer demand have made it possible to find beautiful, sensual products and treat skin care challenges from acne to eczema without the use of synthetics and without harmful side effects to the body or the environment, so you will absolutely be able to find clean solutions that also feel and smell incredible and make you feel beautiful, inside and out.

4 For women on the go, how can I streamline my beauty regime to ensure I use as little as possible but have great skin. Can you recommend a few good suki items and how to use them?
we understand the desire for a highly effective, pared down regimen, so many of our products fill multiple needs. for example, our exfoliate foaming cleanser is our signature best seller and one of the most unique foaming exfoliating cleansers you will find. it works for so many conditions, not just for all skin types - for eczema, acne, for the body (rough patches, etc.)-it's definitely a go-to product.
our transformative cleansing clay is an excellent purifying cleanser, but is also recommended as a masque and spot treatment, for the treatment of acne, redness, eczema, and any condition of inflammation.
our concentrated balancing toner is amazing as an anti-inflammatory with so many uses - for acne, oily skin, normal to combination skin, as an anti-bacterial and first aid spray, for use all day to infuse the skin with high potencies of refreshing, environmental toxin fighting botanicals, and even, we hear from our clients, for use as a poison ivy spray/anti-itch spray.
End.
